The State of Maryland has been invited by the Caucus of African American Leaders (CAAL) in Anne Arundel County to attend the 60th Anniversary Celebration of the March on Washington. In commemoration of this event, the CAAL is hosting a two-day, state-wide event on Saturday, August 26ᵗʰ, and Sunday, August 27ᵗʰ. The event will include a March reenactment, beginning at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis on Saturday at 10:00 AM and ending at the Susan B. Campbell Park at the Annapolis City Dock. A program at the City Dock will follow the March. On the final day, there will be a worship service at Fresh Start Church in Glen Burnie, MD.
Schedule of Events:
Saturday, August 26 | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
The March Reenactment begins at 10:00 AM at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium and will travel to the Annapolis City Dock. Following the reenactment, there will be a formal program, including video presentations of original participants, youth essay contest winners reciting their award-winning essays, a tribute to Negro Women Freedom Fighters, speeches, and a keynote address.
Sunday, August 27 | 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM (You must register separately using the highlighted link) A culminating worship service will be held at the Fresh Start Church, 120 N. Langley Road, Glen Burnie, Maryland.

The Ask: Brothers, you are invited to the reenactment March and the worship service. Given the social justice climate, including the recent decisions of SCOTUS, the organizers encourage you to create and bring signs that speak to the ongoing issues. For the worship service, space is limited, and you must sign up with the March organizers to attend. Additional information will follow as the event gets closer.
The Divine Nine was also invited to attend, and we are looking for a strong turnout of our Blue and White family. Please let the chapter know by Tuesday, Aug 22, 2023 if you or any of your chapter brothers intend to participate in the March.
